We think Los Barriles is one of the greatest pueblos in all of Baja California.
The people are kind and friendly, the area is beautiful and the slow-paced lifestyle is refreshing. To help you learn about the East Cape RV Resort and our area in general, we'll share with you some of our favorites as well as point out locations for the practical things you'll need during your stay.

Our welcome information is designed to acquaint you with the East Cape RV Resort and to the highlights of Los Barriles. Please see 'Visit Beautiful Los Barriles' for a wonderful list of Restaurants and Taquerias as well as a printable version for your reference. Enjoy!

Wonderful Pool & Spa
Rest your road-weary body in our Pool or Jacuzzi and enjoy a relaxing evening amongst friends, old and new. Want to sit around the fire? There's a propane fire ring poolside as well.

Baja's first!  Our own "Hot Spot" High Speed Wireless Internet
The East Cape RV Resort was proud to be on the cutting edge by offering Mexico's first high-speed, wireless internet park 4 years ago!  With a Wifi-enabled computer, you can use and enjoy the internet from the comforts of your own RV.  We teamed up with "Tengo Internet" and prices are just $4 a day, $15 per week, $30 for two weeks, and $40 per month.  Staying a month?  That's only $1.30 per day for 24-hour access!  Just turn on your computer and follow the internet prompts or you can purchase your password at the office.

Bathrooms and Laundry
The bathrooms are in the pueblo-style building with the palapa roof next to the pool.  The men's are on the left, the women's on the right. Travelers tell us we have "The best bathrooms in the Baja!" Washers, dryer and drying patio are located on the west side behind the bamboo fence.  $1.50 to wash, $1.50 to dry and you need American quarters - available from Helen in the permanente Palapa Casita in the northwest corner of the park with the white doves. Laundry hours are 8 a.m. to dark. Please, no use outside these hours as a courtesy to guests in adjacent sites. Want someone else to do your laundry?  Isabel's "El Lavadera" is located 1 ½ blocks south on left.

Exciting Day Trips
Fishing - We own Awesome Sportfishing and will be delighted to share with you our recent catch and discuss bookings. Captain Congo and our crews speak English, are extremely accommodating and are well known and respected as two of the finest captains in all of Baja. 'Awesome' & 'Too Awesome' are both spacious and comfortable and have room for up to 6 anglers. For details, check our brochure and rate card. Want to 'Share-a-Boat'? Sign up at our office if you'd like to join other park guests and put together a fishing day. The East Cape Smokehouse is renowned for its smoked fish & can prepare your catch, smoke or flash freeze and vacuum pack.
Coast Cruise - Create lifetime memories cruising the Baja peninsula coastside 24 miles north, scouting for whales and dolphin, enjoy a snorkel in 'Congo's Cove' then lunch at the remote and azure waters in the Bay of Dreams (Bahia de Los Muertos on maps).
ATV-4 wheelers - Get into the Baja, really into it, and rediscover adrenaline as you zip through arroyo's, zoom up mountains and see incredible vistas on a 1/2 day guided trip.
Bike trails & hiking trails: To petroglyphs and waterfalls and everywhere else! Self-guided maps available

The Beach
It's just a 1000 feet to the beach by turning left out of the park, walk 100 feet, turn right and the beautiful blue sea is straight ahead.

The Desert, Water & Electric Resource
The Baja peninsula is a natural desert. Water remains a precious commodity and is not always consistent in it’s delivery.  CFE, Mexico's Government owned Electric provider, does it's best, but on occasion it too can be inconsistent in its electric delivery and very expensive. Whenever possible, when it's warm outside, please open your windows, enjoy the fresh air and run only your fans.  We appreciate your being conscientious with your use of both water and electricity.

Money Exchange, ATM Machine
The new Banamex bank offers national exchange rate on funds and has an ATM. Baja Money Exchange is an eclectic store for ice cream, souvenirs, cigars, and money exchange just 300 feet to the south. There is also an ATM at the Palmas de Cortez hotel lobby.

Chapito's Super Mercado is on the road coming into Los Barriles and they also have a farmacia.  The new grocery store 'Tienda Popular' is located across the street and slightly west of Tio Pablo's. Fayla's is closer but somewhat more expensive.  Fayla's offers videos and Friday is paper day - USA Today, LA Times and Wall Street Journal.  La Modelorama has cold beer, ice and is good for fast trips.  Beer bottles are redeemable, so don't throw them away. "Costco San Lucas" and Home Depot are 1 1/2 hours south and offer all the shopping joys and selections you'd expect at home.

Rig Washing
Our Jardinero (Gardener) Martin, is our rig washer and does a fantastic job -$1.50 per foot for RV's. Cars- $7, Trucks - $14. Interior cleaning available on request. Due to the high cost of water, guests may not wash their own vehicles, with the exception of permanent residents who pay for water monthly.

Park Vendors
Propane: Available 38 miles south on the right 'Caligas'
Water: Leave empty bottles at the end of your site with $1.50 in a baggie tied to the neck. They'll exchange empties for full, 2 - 3 times a week, usually Monday, Wednesday, Saturday.
Tuesday: Fresh and frozen fish from Magdelena Bay/San Carlos on the Pacific side comes in a small white truck
Fruits and Veg: Jose Luis comes to sell the best vegetables & fruit, chickens as well one day a week during the heart of the winter season
